The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs said the technical committee of the Economic Commission has approved a proposal to divert water from the Kunar River to the Darunta Dam, a move expected to help address water shortages affecting agricultural land in Nangarhar province.
In a statement, the office said the proposal was endorsed
during the committee’s regular meeting on Monday and has been referred to the
Economic Commission for a final decision.
According to the statement, implementation of the project
would help resolve irrigation problems and improve water availability for
farmland in Nangarhar.
The meeting also discussed infrastructure development in
western Afghanistan. The statement said a separate committee was tasked with
conducting a comprehensive assessment of the fifth phase of the Badghis Ring
Road project, covering a 25-kilometer section.
That committee has been instructed to complete its review
and present a detailed report at the next meeting of the technical committee.
