The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A group of Indian investors have pledged to invest in several sectors in Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Finance.
The ministry said the investors made the commitment during a
meeting with Abdul Mateen Saeed, the Taliban’s deputy minister for customs
affairs and revenues. During the meeting, the investors expressed interest in
investing in the production of human, agricultural and veterinary medicines, as
well as in agriculture and mineral extraction.
The statement added that the investors also said they are close
to completing the establishment of an eye treatment center in Kabul, with
medical services expected to begin in the near future.
Taliban officials said such investments could contribute to
economic activity and service delivery in the country, amid ongoing efforts to
attract foreign investors.
