The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban officials say Afghanistan has reduced its trade dependence on Pakistan, establishing new routes for imports and commerce.
Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the Taliban-run Ministry of Industry and Commerce, told the Bakhtar News Agency on Tuesday that significant progress has been made in recent months with several regional countries, resulting in contracts for the import of medicines, food supplies, and fuel.
He added that after the closure of border crossings with Pakistan, private sector goods that had been stuck inside Afghanistan were redirected to Central Asian countries, opening new markets for Afghan traders.
