The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Herat provincial administration says 500 pieces of traditional, handcrafted Herati glass have been exported for the first time to the United States and several European countries after undergoing decorative and miniature artwork.
According to the statement, Herat’s glass products have
drawn international attention due to their high quality, color clarity, and
hand-crafted designs. The value of the exported shipment is estimated at around
300,000 Afghanis.
Local officials in Herat say efforts are underway to expand
this centuries-old craft. Herat’s glassmaking industry is considered one of
Afghanistan’s most prominent traditional handicrafts, with a long cultural and
historical legacy.
Authorities added that expanding the industry will create
more job opportunities for artisans and strengthen the international visibility
of Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
