The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Deputy Administrative Chief, Abdul Salam Hanafi, met with Andreas Papa Constantino, Head of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations for the European Union, on Thursday to discuss ongoing humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Constantino said the EU is working
independently to assess the needs of the Afghan population and deliver aid
directly and transparently. He noted that EU teams are now able to engage with
local communities and distribute assistance packages efficiently.
Constantino also highlighted EU programs aimed at creating
employment opportunities for Afghan youth and supporting returning refugees,
while coordinating with other humanitarian organizations to expand aid
delivery.
Hanafi expressed appreciation for EU humanitarian support,
particularly for returning refugees and earthquake-affected populations, and
emphasized the importance of strengthening political, economic, and cultural
relations between Afghanistan and European countries.
He added that despite decades of conflict, the Taliban-led
administration seeks constructive cooperation with the international community
based on mutual respect.
