The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban say their National Procurement Commission
has approved 562 development projects valued at about 130.6 billion Afghanis
over the past three years.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesman, said in a
statement that the commission held 33 meetings during this period to review and
approve the projects.
According to Fitrat, competitive bidding processes resulted
in nearly 5 billion AFN in savings across awarded contracts. He added that the
approved projects have created thousands of jobs and improved “speed,
transparency and cost-efficiency” in procurement procedures.
Fitrat said the commission prioritized balanced development
across provinces and focused on projects aligned with public needs, giving
preference to the use of domestic products.
The approved projects cover sectors including
reconstruction, agriculture and rural development, health, electricity,
transportation, drinking water, urban infrastructure, public services and
telecommunications. Implementation of these projects is reportedly underway.
