The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan transported 153,393 metric tons of
commercial goods through its railway network from Nov. 21 to Nov. 27, 2025, the
Taliban-run Ministry of Public Works said Thursday.
Ashraf Haqshenas, the ministry’s spokesperson, wrote on X
that the weekly cargo volume included fuel, non-fuel items and other materials
imported and exported through the country’s main rail corridors. He said that
during this period, 108,722 tons of goods moved through Hairatan, 10,421 tons
through Aqina, 19,867 tons through Torghundi, and 14,383 tons via the Khaf–Herat
railway, adding up to a total of 153,393 metric tons.
He said 63 tons of commodities — mostly dried fruits — were
exported during the week.
Haqshenas noted that increased rail movement helps create
jobs, raise national revenue and support long-term economic stability and
self-sufficiency. He added that the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works is
working to expand transportation facilities for traders and make the flow of
commercial goods faster and more reliable.
