The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan’s Taliban-controlled electricity company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), announced on Thursday, November 20, via its X account that it has extended its electricity import contract with Uzbekistan for 2026, ensuring power supply for the coming year.

The company said in a statement that the renewed contract will support economic growth, attract investment, and enable the implementation of new electricity projects in Afghanistan.

DABS added that it signed four major agreements with Uzbek companies this year, valued at $243 million. These projects include the development of the 500-kilovolt Surkhan–Dasht-e-Alwan transmission line, expansion of the Arghandi substation, construction of the 220-kilovolt Kabul–Sheikh Masee line, and establishment of the Sheikh Masee substation.

The company emphasized that these initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to improve Afghanistan’s energy infrastructure and provide reliable electricity to households and businesses nationwide.
