The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Afghanistan announced on Thursday, November 20, via its X account that 50 IOM-supported businesses, including 15 women-owned enterprises, participated in a trade show in Kandahar that attracted approximately 45,000 visitors.
With support from the United Nations Support to Free and
Transparent Afghanistan (UN STFA), the businesses showcased a wide range of
products and services, from handmade crafts to innovative local solutions. IOM
said the event helped enhance visibility, create growth opportunities, and
foster connections for participating entrepreneurs.
The organization emphasized the importance of supporting
women-led businesses in Afghanistan, highlighting that their participation in
such events contributes to broader economic development and community
empowerment.
The trade show reflects ongoing efforts by IOM and its
partners to strengthen local entrepreneurship and promote inclusive economic
activities in southern Afghanistan.
