The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The UN Development Programme (UNDP) says it has supported 81,897 small businesses led by Afghan women across the country.
In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the agency said that from October 2021 to September 2025, more than 133,531 women in Afghanistan have gained employment or income opportunities through UN development initiatives.
Referring to the International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, the UN said Afghan women — despite extensive restrictions and challenges — continue to play a vital role in creating livelihoods and supporting their families through resilience, leadership, and hard work.
This comes as women have been barred from working in most public and private institutions since the Taliban returned to power.
