The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The United Nations is marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month by urging people to adopt healthier lifestyles to reduce their risk of developing the disease, which remains the most common cancer among women worldwide.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the UN said that
“every minute, four women are diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide, and one
woman dies from the disease.”
The organization encouraged preventive measures, including
avoiding smoking, limiting or abstaining from alcohol, and staying physically
active.
Health experts say early detection through regular
screenings and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can significantly improve
survival rates. The UN and its partner agencies are calling for greater
awareness and access to cancer prevention and treatment, especially in low- and
middle-income countries where healthcare access remains limited.
