The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghan pharmaceutical traders and
members of the country’s chambers of commerce have urged the Taliban-run
Finance Ministry to remove obstacles affecting the import of medicines through
alternative trade routes, according to a statement issued Sunday, Nov. 16,
2025.
The ministry said traders expressed concerns over potential
customs complications, additional costs, and delays in transporting goods
through non-Pakistan corridors.
During the meeting, traders noted that due to ongoing trade
restrictions with Pakistan, shifting to alternative routes has become
essential. However, they said the lack of customs facilities and clear
procedures has slowed the import process.
In response, the Taliban’s finance minister pledged to work
on improving these alternative routes, adding that the administration would
coordinate with relevant agencies to address traders’ concerns and facilitate
smoother imports.
