The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, met Monday with a senior Tajik foreign ministry official in Moscow to discuss Afghanistan and regional developments ahead of the latest Moscow Format consultations.
Sadiq said on X that he met Sarvar Bakhti, head of the
Department of Middle East and African Countries at Tajikistan’s Foreign
Ministry.
“We discussed the situation in Afghanistan and regional
developments ahead of the Moscow Format consultations,” Sadiq said.
Pakistan’s ambassadors to Kabul and Moscow also attended the
meeting, he said.
The talks came ahead of the eighth meeting of the Moscow
Format on Afghanistan, which brings together regional countries to discuss
Afghanistan’s political, security and economic situation and ways to strengthen
regional cooperation.
The meeting is also taking place amid tensions between
Pakistan and the Taliban authorities over security and border issues.
