The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Sergei Naryshkin, director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, has visited Kabul and met with Abdul Haq Wasiq, the Taliban’s director of intelligence, according to Taliban-run media.
The state-run Bakhtar News Agency reported Wednesday that Naryshkin met with Wasiq during an official visit and discussed issues of mutual importance. The report did not provide further details about the talks.
The visit comes as Moscow has expanded its engagement with the Taliban authorities in recent years.
Russia formally recognized the Taliban government on July 3, 2025, becoming the first country to do so.
