The Kabul Tribune (KT)— The U.N. World Food Program welcomed a €15 million ($17.6 million) contribution from the European Union to strengthen climate resilience and local food systems in Afghanistan.
The funding will support livelihoods and create economic opportunities
for women and young people while helping communities adapt to the effects of
climate change, WFP said.
The contribution also will strengthen WFP’s school meals
program, supporting efforts to improve children’s access to nutritious food and
encourage school attendance.
WFP said the funding will help vulnerable communities build
more resilient livelihoods and strengthen local food systems in a country
facing persistent food insecurity, economic challenges and climate-related
pressures.
