The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Australia has contributed 9 million Australian dollars (about $6.34 million) to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund as humanitarian needs continue to outpace available funding, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Tuesday.

In a post on X, OCHA thanked Australia for what it described as a generous contribution to the fund, saying the donation would help sustain life-saving assistance for vulnerable people across Afghanistan.

The U.N. agency said the funding comes at a time when humanitarian needs are increasing while financial resources remain limited.

OCHA also expressed appreciation to the Australian government for supporting humanitarian response efforts in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan remains one of the world's largest humanitarian crises, with millions of people relying on international aid for food, health care and other essential services.
