The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan exported 10,000 square meters of carpets from Herat province to Germany since the beginning of 2026, according to the Taliban's Herat provincial media office.
The office said the exports generated $103,000 in revenue.
Carpets remain one of Afghanistan's key export commodities and an important source of income for the country's handicraft sector.
According to the statement, during the previous Islamic lunar year (1447 AH), Afghanistan exported approximately 760,000 square meters of carpets worth $14 million to Turkey, Russia, Australia, the United States, Canada, as well as countries across Europe, the Arab region and Africa.
