The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Five people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Afghanistan’s Parwan province, local Taliban officials said.
The incident occurred in the Bidqol area of Sheikh Ali district on Monday (June 8), after 4 p.m., when a passenger van collided with a cargo truck, according to officials.
Fazl Rahim Miskinyar, spokesperson for the Parwan police command, said all five fatalities were passengers of the van, while three others sustained injuries.
He added that the driver of the cargo truck has been arrested by security forces in Sheikh Ali district, and the case is under investigation by traffic authorities to determine the exact cause of the accident.
According to the source, the cargo truck driver is a resident of the same district, while the passenger vehicle belonged to residents of Balkh province.
The accident comes as roads in Sheikh Ali district, characterized by mountainous terrain and narrow, winding routes, remain prone to traffic incidents, with similar accidents reported each year.
