The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A 20-year-old man was killed and three others, including two girls, were injured after an old explosive device detonated in Parwan, local authorities said.

The Taliban police command in Parwan said in a statement that the incident took place in the Barikab area of Bagram District following the explosion of an unexploded ordnance shell.

According to the statement, the young man was killed on Tuesday afternoon while attempting to dismantle the shell, which triggered the explosion.

Authorities said three other people were injured in the blast, including two girls.

The injured were initially taken by residents and security personnel to the Ghulam Ali 20-Bed Hospital for treatment.

Local officials have once again urged residents to immediately report any unexploded or suspicious ordnance to the nearest security authorities to help prevent further casualties.
