The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A child was killed and a girl was injured after an unexploded ordnance detonated in Nangarhar, the Taliban police command said on Wednesday.
According to the Taliban police command in Nangarhar, the incident occurred in the Qatraghi area of Rodat District.
The statement said the explosion took place when the children were herding livestock and came into contact with the unexploded munition.
The body of the deceased child was handed over to his family, while the injured girl was taken to hospital for treatment, the statement added.
Unexploded ordnance and other remnants of past conflicts continue to pose a serious threat to civilians, particularly children, across various parts of Afghanistan, with such incidents frequently resulting in casualties.
