The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban said on Sunday that 980 migrant families returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan in a single day, according to the commission responsible for addressing migrant issues.
The commission said that of the total, 820 families entered through the Torkham crossing, 117 families through Spin Boldak, 36 families via the Silk Bridge crossing, and 7 families through the Islam Qala border point.
It added that more than 1,000 migrant families also returned to the country a day earlier, reflecting a continued rise in cross-border movement.
In recent weeks, the return and deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan has intensified, with hundreds of families reportedly crossing back into Afghanistan daily.
The growing influx has raised concerns over the country’s capacity to provide basic services, shelter, and economic support for returnees, many of whom are arriving with limited resources.
