The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban authorities have publicly flogged two individuals in eastern Afghanistan, according to statements released by the Taliban’s Supreme Court.
In a statement issued Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the court said one person was punished in Dara Noor district of Nangarhar province on charges of adultery. The individual was sentenced by a Taliban primary court to one year and six months in prison along with 39 lashes.
The statement added that the sentence was carried out after being approved by the Taliban’s Supreme Court.
In a separate statement, the court said another individual was flogged in Zurmat district of Paktia province on charges of sodomy. The person had been sentenced to two years in prison and 25 lashes by a Taliban primary court.
The Taliban have repeatedly carried out public floggings over the past four years, a practice that has drawn criticism from international human rights organizations.
