The Kabul Tribune (KT) - The Kabul–Jalalabad highway has remained closed to all types of traffic for two days due to heavy rainfall, flash floods, and falling rocks in the Tang-e Gharu area.
Muhammad Ashraf Haqshinas, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Public Works, said that initial efforts were made to reopen the route; however, rocks have continued to fall onto the roadway, and the risk of further landslides remains.
He added that the situation in the area is unstable, and technical teams are facing difficulties in clearing the road.
He further stated that, in addition to the highway closure, an alternative route has also been damaged by floods, completely halting movement in the area.
Haqshinas urged citizens and drivers to avoid traveling on this route until further notice and to take safety warnings seriously.
