The Kabul Tribune (KT) - António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has called for an immediate end to the war in the Middle East.
In a post on X, he warned that every day the conflict continues, human suffering and destruction increase, indiscriminate attacks grow, and the risks to the world become greater.
He said the effects of the war are not limited to the region but are being felt worldwide, with rising threats to global security and stability.
Guterres said the international community must act quickly to find a peaceful solution and stressed that the “spiral of death & destruction” must stop immediately.
He also urged all sides involved in the conflict to end the war, saying it is worsening both the humanitarian and economic crisis.
In his message, Guterres called on the United States and Israel to stop a war that he said is causing “huge human suffering and devastating economic consequences.”
He also urged Iran to stop its attacks on neighboring countries.
Guterres emphasized that ending the war is still possible if leaders choose dialogue over destruction, a choice he said still exists but must be made urgently.
