The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Reuters reported that debris from an intercepted missile struck a fuel tanker and an industrial building at Israel’s Oil Refineries in Haifa on Monday, according to Israeli authorities.
Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service said the impact caused a
fire and thick smoke after a gasoline storage tank within the facility was hit.
It was not immediately clear whether the missile had been fired from Iran or by
Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, as both were reportedly launching attacks at
the same time.
Fire commander Eitan Rifa said the incident had been fully
contained, with no casualties or risks to the public.
Israel’s Energy Minister Eli Cohen said there was no damage
to production facilities and that fuel supply would not be affected.
The refinery complex, also known as Bazan, had previously
sustained damage during an Iranian missile strike on March 20, and was
temporarily shut down during a separate conflict last June after infrastructure
used for power generation was hit.
