The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The U.S. Department of State has issued a global security alert, warning American citizens—particularly those in the Middle East—of increased security risks and urging heightened caution.
In a statement, the department advised U.S. nationals living abroad to regularly monitor security advisories and updates issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
The statement also noted that periodic airspace closures in some regions could disrupt travel plans.
Citing ongoing threats, the department said U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have in some cases been targeted in attacks.
According to the statement, “Iran-backed groups” may target U.S. interests or locations associated with Americans in various parts of the world.
The department further urged U.S. citizens to enroll in its travel information system to receive the latest security updates and to follow official sources for guidance.
It also recommended that travelers carefully review destination-specific advisories before undertaking any trips.
