The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Amnesty International South Asia has warned that a new criminal regulation issued by the Taliban will further restrict Afghan women and girls’ access to justice, equality, and personal autonomy.

The regional office of Amnesty said in a statement that the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan have been steadily eroded over the past years and that the new regulation would intensify this repression.

The organization called on the Taliban to immediately revoke what it described as the “draconian” rule and urged the international community to speak up in support of Afghan women.
