The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan has regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 International bowling rankings, according to the latest update reported by ESPNcricinfo.
The ranking shift comes after India spinner Varun
Chakravarthy, who was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2026 ICC Men's T20
World Cup, lost the top position among bowlers.
Despite Afghanistan not progressing beyond the group stage
of the tournament, Rashid’s previous performances allowed him to climb back to
the summit of the T20I bowling rankings.
In the batting rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma retained
the No. 1 position after scoring a rapid half-century in the tournament final
against New Zealand. His teammate Ishan Kishan moved up to second place
following a strong campaign in which he scored 317 runs and registered three
half-centuries.
Other notable changes include New Zealand
wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert rising to sixth place and England’s Jacob
Bethell reaching a career-high ranking.
Among bowlers, England spinner Adil Rashid climbed to fourth
place after taking 13 wickets in the World Cup, while India fast bowler Jasprit
Bumrah moved up to sixth with 14 wickets in the tournament.
In the all-rounder rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza
and India’s Hardik Pandya maintained the top two positions, while New Zealand
captain Mitchell Santner climbed to ninth place.
