The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan’s railway freight transfers increased by 33.3% during the current solar year, the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works said.
The ministry said that from the beginning of the 1404 solar
year — March 21, 2025 — through the end of Dalwa (Feb. 19, 2026), a total of
5,387,549 metric tons of goods were transported via the country’s railway
network. The figure represents a 33.3% increase compared with the same period

nonalcoholic beverages shipped to international markets. The remaining cargo
comprised petroleum and non-petroleum imports entering Afghanistan from other
countries.
According to the ministry, the transfers were carried out
through the railway corridors of Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi and the Herat-Khaf
Railway route.
Ministry data show that during the same period of the
previous 1403 solar year (March 20, 2024, to Feb. 18, 2025), 4,040,855 metric
tons of goods were transported, indicating an increase of more than 1 million
metric tons this year.
