The Kabul Tribune (KT) — UNICEF says Afghanistan’s education system faces serious challenges but can still be rebuilt, stressing that lifting the ban on girls’ secondary education is critical for the country’s future.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, UNICEF Afghanistan said allowing girls to return to secondary schools would enable them to develop skills, enter essential professions such as healthcare, and help strengthen families, communities and the nation as a whole.

The UN agency reiterated that access to education for girls is a key factor in long-term social and economic recovery in Afghanistan.
