The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The newly appointed head of Save the Children has pledged to expand health services for mothers and children across Afghanistan, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry said Bojer Hoja, the organization’s new country
director, made the commitment on Wednesday during his introductory meeting with
Taliban Health Minister Noor Jalal Jalali.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed improving maternal
and child healthcare, expanding overall health services, and increasing health
projects and facilities dedicated to children, the statement said.
Hoja pledged that Save the Children would work to provide comprehensive
healthcare services for mothers and children and expand child-focused health
projects and medical centers across the country.
Save the Children previously operated in Afghanistan under
the leadership of Arshad Malik, who has now been replaced by Hoja.
