The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, said on December 31 that the Afghan afghani remained stable in 2025, with its value increasing against foreign currencies.

He wrote on his X account that inflation was low, and prices of food and other essential goods remained lower compared to neighboring countries.

Citing the latest World Bank report, Mujahid added that Afghanistan experienced economic growth and development of 4.3 percent in 2025.

The announcement comes amid ongoing public concerns over rising food prices, poverty, and unemployment, with many citizens continuing to face economic hardship.
