The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Rain denied Afghanistan Under-19 a win in the opening match of the Tri-Nation Youth ODI Series against Zimbabwe U19 on Thursday, as the game was abandoned without a result.
Afghanistan were 68 for 1 in 9.2 overs, needing just 23 more
runs for victory when rain interrupted play multiple times and eventually ended
the contest prematurely.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s bowlers had restricted Zimbabwe to 90
runs in 22.2 overs. Salam Khan led the attack with figures of 4 for 11, while
Wahidullah Zadran took 3 for 6. Zaitullah Shaheen and Uzairullah Khan Niazi
each claimed one wicket.
In the chase, Faisal Khan remained unbeaten on 30, supported
by Khalid Ahmadzai with 14 runs, before the weather forced the match to be
called off.
