The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf has met with Cricket Federation of Uzbekistan (CFU) Chairman Aziz Mihliev in Kabul, reaffirming ACB’s commitment to providing technical support to help develop cricket in Uzbekistan.
According to the ACB, the meeting was held at the board’s
headquarters, where both sides discussed bilateral cooperation and
capacity-building initiatives. Mihliev visited Kabul with a delegation that
included several Uzbek players to take part in the ACB’s Match Referee Course
and other training camps at the High-Performance Center.
Following the meeting, the Uzbek delegation, accompanied by
members of the ACB Chairman’s Office, visited Babar Garden and toured several
historic sites in the area.
The ACB said the engagement follows the recent signing of a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the
Cricket Federation of Uzbekistan. Under the agreement, the ACB will provide
comprehensive cricket development support to Uzbekistan, including coaching
education, umpiring and officiating training, strength and conditioning
programs, physiotherapy services, video analysis, talent identification,
technical courses and development camps led by elite Afghan coaches.
The ACB described the partnership as part of its broader
efforts to contribute to the growth of cricket in the region through technical
expertise and training support.
