The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s provincial administration in Laghman said construction has begun on a modern commercial and residential center worth 21.5 million Afghanis in Qargheyi district.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the media office of the
Laghman governor’s office said the three-story complex is being built in the
Sorkhakano township using the municipality’s internal budget.
Khalid Sharifi, the mayor of Qargheyi district, was quoted
as saying the project is expected to be completed within one year and will
provide space for a range of commercial activities.
Taliban officials said the project is aimed at creating
business opportunities for traders and improving local economic conditions.
Similar municipality-funded projects have been launched in several provinces as
part of efforts to boost local revenue and urban development.
