The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works says 153,393 metric tons of goods were transported through Afghanistan’s railway lines in the span of one week.
In a statement issued on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, the ministry said fuel, non-fuel materials and other goods were imported and exported through the Hairatan, Aqina and Torghundi ports, as well as the Khaf–Herat railway line.
According to the statement, 108,722 tons were transported through Hairatan, 10,421 tons through Aqina, 19,867 tons through Torghundi and 14,383 tons via the Khaf–Herat railway.
The ministry added that alongside imports, 63 tons of commercial goods — mostly dried fruits — were exported during the same period.
The Taliban-run ministry said the increase in transportation, imports and exports through railway lines boosts employment opportunities, national revenue and supports economic stability and self-sufficiency in the country.
