The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Hengaw Human Rights Organization reported that Iranian authorities have executed 11 prisoners in recent days, including an Afghan national, across multiple cities in Iran.

According to the report, the executions were carried out on Wednesday and Thursday in prisons located in Karaj, Mashhad, Kashmar, Ferdows, Aligudarz, Ardabil and Ilam.

Hengaw identified the Afghan prisoner as Farhad Haidar, 40, who was arrested three years ago on charges of murder and later sentenced to death by Iran’s judiciary. He was moved to solitary confinement on Monday, held a final meeting with his family on Tuesday, and was executed on Wednesday.

Iran is among the countries that extensively implement the death penalty, a policy that has repeatedly drawn strong criticism from international human rights organizations.
