The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Ahmadullah Zahid, deputy minister of the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said that since the Taliban came to power, the number of industrial factories in the country has increased from 3,500 to 6,000 units.
Speaking Monday, November 24, 2025, at the opening ceremony of a dried fruit market in Kabul, Zahid said the Taliban have achieved “rapid progress” in infrastructure reconstruction over the past four years and have “completely” prevented the import of low-quality goods.
This comes amid repeated complaints from ordinary citizens over the past four years about rising poverty and unemployment.
Reports from international organizations also indicate that since the collapse of the previous government, levels of poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan have significantly increased, leaving millions of people facing food insecurity and severe hardships.
