The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban officials in Maidan Wardak say 124 development projects worth more than 170 million Afghanis have been completed and handed over for use in Jaghatu district.

According to the Taliban’s Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the projects were implemented by the international NGO ACTED with financial support from the World Bank across 115 villages.

Mullah Esmatullah Karamat, head of the Taliban’s rural development department in the province, said the projects include the construction of rural roads, major bridges, culverts, retaining walls and irrigation canals.

He added that thousands of people received short-term employment during the construction phase, and that the completed projects have addressed key problems faced by local communities.
