The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iran executed at least 217 people in October, including 11 Afghan prisoners, according to a report released by the Norway-based Iran Human Rights Organization.
The group said in a statement that 104 of those executed
were convicted of intentional murder, while 99 others were put to death on
drug-related charges.
According to the report, at least 1,271 people have been
executed across Iran since the beginning of the year, with a significant
portion convicted of murder or drug trafficking.
The organization added that between January and October, at
least 69 Afghan nationals were among those executed in Iran.
Iran has long faced international criticism for its high
rate of executions, lack of fair trials, and the use of the death penalty for
drug offenses.
