The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia from Oct. 27 to 29 at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9), Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Sunday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along
with senior cabinet members and officials, will accompany the prime minister on
the trip, the statement said.
The high-level Pakistani delegation will represent the
country at the global investment forum, which brings together world leaders,
investors, policymakers, and innovators under the theme, *“The Key to
Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth.”*
According to the Foreign Office, FII9 will focus on
innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion, and geopolitical shifts while
addressing global challenges and opportunities.
During his visit, Sharif is expected to meet with Saudi
leaders to explore enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and human
resource development. Discussions will also cover regional and global issues of
mutual interest, the statement said.
On the sidelines of the forum, the prime minister will hold
meetings with leaders of other participating countries and heads of
international organizations to highlight Pakistan’s investment potential and
readiness for partnerships in sustainable development.
“These exchanges will underscore Pakistan’s commitment to
advancing economic diplomacy and fostering strategic partnerships in
investment, technology, and sustainable growth,” the Foreign Office said.
The visit follows recent efforts by Pakistan and Saudi
Arabia to strengthen their longstanding ties beyond traditional areas of
cooperation. During Sharif’s previous trip to Riyadh on Sept. 18, the two
nations signed a landmark defense pact, under which an attack on one country
would be considered an attack on both.
