The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, discussed the situation in Afghanistan and recent stalled talks between Pakistan and the Taliban during a phone call on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
In a statement, the
ministry said Araghchi expressed concern over tensions between Afghanistan and
Pakistan and emphasized the need for continued dialogue with the Taliban. He
added that Iran is ready to assist in facilitating discussions between the two
sides.
Dar briefed Araghchi
on the latest developments in the Pakistan-Afghanistan talks and underlined the
importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, according to the
statement.
Both ministers agreed
to continue consultations on the issue. The call followed recent Istanbul talks
between Pakistan and the Taliban that ended without an agreement, leaving
uncertainty over whether negotiations will resume.
