The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Three women were wounded in a knife attack in northwest Paris on Monday, two of them seriously, before a 31-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, AFP reported, citing French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez and French authorities.
The attack occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time near
Porte de Clichy. Authorities said the suspect allegedly used two knives before
being subdued and detained by an off-duty police officer who intervened during
the incident.
All three victims were taken to hospital. Nunez said two of
the women suffered serious injuries, while the third sustained less severe
wounds.
French media reported that one of the victims was pregnant,
but authorities have not officially confirmed that information.
According to AFP, the suspect made incoherent statements
after his arrest. French media suggested he may have psychiatric or mental
health issues, but authorities have not established a motive for the attack.
French officials said there is currently no indication that
the stabbing was linked to terrorism, and investigators have not identified any
connection to a wider organization.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the
circumstances surrounding the attack, including the suspect's possible motive
and whether he acted alone.
The suspect remains under investigation and has not been
convicted of any offense. Officials said the inquiry is ongoing and cautioned
against drawing conclusions before the investigation is complete.
