The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Asila Wardak, an Afghan women’s rights advocate, has been selected as one of 25 women leaders from around the world for the Global Engage Fellowship organized by Vital Voices Global Partnership.

Wardak announced the selection in a post on X, saying she was “deeply honored” to join the fellowship. She described the program as an opportunity to learn, grow and collaborate with women leaders from around the world.

She said she looks forward to working alongside women committed to creating positive change in their communities.

Wardak is a prominent advocate for women’s rights in Afghanistan. Before the Taliban returned to power in 2021, she worked on human rights, gender equality and women’s empowerment. Since the Taliban takeover, she has continued to advocate for the rights of Afghan women in international forums.

The Global Engage Fellowship is a leadership program that aims to strengthen participants’ leadership skills, expand international collaboration and support women leaders advancing human rights, sustainable development and social justice.

Each year, Vital Voices Global Partnership selects women leaders from different countries to participate in leadership training, exchange experiences and build global networks for collaboration.
