The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Richard Bennett expressed concern over what he described as the excessive use of force against reportedly peaceful protesters in Herat.
In a statement posted on X, Bennett said he was alarmed by
developments on the ground and urged authorities to reduce tensions and avoid
further harm.
He called for respect for citizens’ freedom of expression,
“especially women and girls,” and stressed that those responsible for violence
must be held accountable.
The remarks come amid reports of protests in Herat, although
details about the scale of demonstrations and casualties remain unclear.
