The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban have announced that their defense minister, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, will travel to Russia to participate in an upcoming security conference.
The Taliban’s Defense Ministry said in a post on X that the conference will be attended by security and defense officials from several countries in the region and beyond.
According to the statement, discussions at the meeting will focus on regional security, shared security challenges, and expanding mutual cooperation.
Russia is the only country that has recognized the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.
