The Kabul Tribune (KT) -- The Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) said the Taliban arrested Ahmad Javid Niazi, head of the Paygard news agency.
In a statement, AMSO said Taliban intelligence forces arrested Niazi late Thursday at his office. The organization said no detailed information about his condition or whereabouts was immediately available.
AMSO said six other journalists are also being held in Taliban prisons.
The organization said the arrests have raised serious concerns about journalists’ safety and ability to work in Afghanistan.
AMSO called on the Taliban to release Niazi and the other detained journalists immediately and without conditions.
