The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban’s Supreme Court said that six people, including one woman, were whipped in Balkh Province on charges of “selling alcoholic beverages and adultery.”

In a statement on Thursday, March 11, 2026, the court said the Taliban’s primary court in Balkh sentenced each of the accused to 39 lashes. The punishments were carried out after being confirmed by the Taliban Supreme Court.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned such public floggings over the past four years in various Afghan provinces, calling them violations of human rights and human dignity.
