The Kabul Tribune (KT) - U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that after a large strike on December 19, U.S. and partner forces in Syria killed or captured nearly 25 ISIS members.

CENTCOM said that Between December 20 and 29, 11 missions were carried out across Syria. At least seven ISIS fighters were killed, and the rest were captured. Four ISIS weapons caches were also destroyed.

The December 19 strike, called Operation Hawkeye Strike, targeted more than 70 ISIS sites in central Syria using over 100 precision weapons. Fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery destroyed ISIS infrastructure and weapons stockpiles.

Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said the U.S. will continue working with regional partners to eliminate ISIS threats and protect U.S. and regional security.

CENTCOM also noted that in 2025, ISIS inspired at least 11 plots or attacks in the U.S. Over the past year, U.S. and partner forces in Syria have arrested more than 300 ISIS members and eliminated over 20. Cooper said these actions help make the U.S., the region, and the world safer.
