The Kabul Tribune (KT) - United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called on the international community to reassess global priorities as the world approaches the year 2026, urging a move away from conflict and toward social and environmental investment.

In a post on X, Guterres said the world must “get our priorities straight in 2026,” emphasizing the need to invest more in fighting poverty and less in fighting wars. He also stressed the importance of protecting the planet to secure a future built on peace and justice.

The UN chief noted that increased efforts to reduce poverty and address environmental degradation could help lay the foundation for lasting peace, social justice, and human coexistence.

Calling for collective global action, Guterres urged nations and citizens alike to stand together “for justice, humanity and peace.”
